Is there a CamScanner alternative for desktop?

Yes! While many scanner apps only work on mobile, ScannerOnline.io is the perfect desktop alternative. You can install it as a native desktop app on Windows, Mac, or Linux directly from your browser, allowing you to manage your documents with a full-sized screen and keyboard.

Do I need to create an account to use the app?

No! You can use our scanning and PDF tools immediately without an account. Signing in with Google is optional and only needed if you want to save documents to your own Google Drive for multi-device access.

Does it work on tablets?

Yes! ScannerOnline works perfectly on Mobile, Desktop, and Tablets. You can even install it as an app (PWA) on all platforms for quick access and a premium experience.

Privacy & Security

How is my privacy protected compared to other apps?

Unlike competitors who may store your files on their servers, ScannerOnline processes your documents locally in your browser. We don't train AI on your data, and your files never leave your device unless you choose to save them.

Where are my documents stored?

We do not store your documents on our servers. When you use Google Drive integration, your files go directly to your own private Google Drive, ensuring you have 100% control.

Are my documents stored on foreign servers?

No. Your documents stay within your device's browser memory or your own Google Drive account, which is governed by Google's global security standards and your own privacy settings.

Does ScannerOnline add any watermarks to my PDFs?

Never. We believe your professional documents should stay clean. We do not add "Scanned with..." watermarks, even for free users.

Do you save my credit card details?

No. We do not store any credit card information. Payments are handled through secure, world-class payment processors, and we only charge you once at the time of subscription.

Do you enable auto-debit or recurring payments?

No. We do not enable hidden auto-debit or automatic renewals. You are only charged when you explicitly choose to subscribe or renew.

Why can't I see files I manually uploaded to Google Drive?

For your security, ScannerOnline only has permission to access files and folders created by the app itself. This ensures we never have access to your other private documents on Google Drive.

Usage & Features

How do I scan multiple pages into one PDF?

Tap the "Camera" icon to start. After capturing a page, you can continue capturing more. Once you're done, you can crop, reorder, and save them all as a single high-quality PDF.

Can I add more pages to a previously scanned document?

Yes! Simply select the document from your dashboard and use the "Modify Scan" option to add new pages or recapture existing ones.

How can I reorder scanned pages?

You can easily reorder pages using the "Reorder" tool available in the document menu. Just drag and drop the pages into your preferred order.

Can I share specific pages of a scanned document?

Yes! Use the "Share Pages" option to select only the specific pages you want to send, rather than sharing the entire document.

What happens if I delete a file? Can I recover it?

Deleted files are moved to the Trash folder on your Google Drive. You can recover them directly from Google Drive within 30 days of deletion.

Does renaming my "ScannerOnline" folder on Google Drive cause issues?

Yes, we recommend not renaming or moving the core "ScannerOnline" folder or its subfolders directly on Google Drive, as it may cause syncing issues with the app.

How do I ensure the best quality for small text?

Place your document on a contrasting background with good lighting. Our "Smart Enhance" tool will automatically sharpen text and remove shadows for a professional look.

Subscriptions

What happens to my documents if my subscription expires?

You retain full access and control. Since your documents are in your Google Drive, they are yours forever. Only adding new documents will be disabled until you renew.

Will I be charged automatically when my trial ends?

No. We value transparency and will never charge you without your explicit consent. There are no "surprise" renewals.

What are the main benefits of the Premium plan?
